Closing out 2017: December Races

Well, my 2017 running schedule is coming to a close.  December will be pretty busy with a few races as well as preparing for 2018.

I have the Bigfoot 10 miler on December 10.  This is going to be a great time.  My wife and I are going to head out at five a.m. on Saturday morning and travel to Salt Fork State Park in southern Ohio.  The race is the culmination of my training with the NEOFit running group which I have thoroughly enjoyed.  Most of my group is running the 50K but I am looking forward to seeing them on the trails.

Frosty Five

On Christmas Eve I will be running The Frosty Five in Hudson which is part of the Western Reserve Racing series.  The race route travels through downtown Hudson and city streets.

Escape from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season by donning the ugly sweater your Aunt Marge knitted for you last year and running the 5th annual Frosty 5 Mile or Mistletoe Mile Fun Run presented by Summa Health Wellness Center. This Hudson tradition is your opportunity to have some holiday fun and do some good.  The race is walker and stroller friendly, the sweater contest is hilarious, and the Mistletoe Mile is perfect for the kids!

2017 participating merchants include Malted Meeple, Goldfish Swim School, Hudson Ace Hardware, CycleBar, Keller Williams, Kurtz & Co, Rosewood Grill, 3 Palms/Flip Side/One Red Door, Lager & Vine, CycleBar, Gwendolyn Elizabeth, PepsiCo, All-Around Cyclery, First National Bank,  Peachtree, Viva Bene Gourmet, , North End , Summa Wellness Institute, Brew Kettle, Connecting for a Cause, Peace Love & Little Donuts, Great Clips, HopTree Brewery, Hudson’s Restaurant and Orangetheory Fitness. In addition, thanks to 1960’s racer John Stafford, we have an authentic Soap Box Derby car in the mix.

Run Up To Christmas

During the weeks leading up to Christmas, I am participating in the Run Up To Christmas Challenge.

Run up to Christmas is a virtual running event – so it can be run anywhere in whatever way you want.

We love running, we love a challenge, we love quirkiness and we love being inclusive. We want to get as many of you up and out as we can, and we want to support you every step of the way.

Run up to Christmas is our new festive themed virtual running event.

You have from the 1st December to christmas day to run as many miles as you want, or even better as you can. We have 5 Milestones to reach, and you can do it on your own or with your best running buddies!
-50km (avg. 2K a day)
-100km (avg. 4k a day)
-150km (avg. 6k a day)
-200km (avg. 8k a day)
or a whopping 250km (avg. 10k a day)

This is not a run streak challenge, you do not need to run every day (but you obviously can if you want to). You just have to set a goal to hit one of our targets, track your runs through whatever running site you use, and at the end of the 25 days send us a link to that site so we can count up your miles.

If you’ve hit one of our milestones you get one of our festive medals (with unique lanyards for each milestone). Surpass our goals and run even further and they’ll be an extra special festive treat!

Having just completed the Million Moo March, I am pretty excited to participate in another virtual challenge.
